Fishing Charters with Capt. Steve Fussell
Serving Crystal River and Homosassa, FL
Welcome, my name is Capt. Steve Fussell and I’m a fishing guide offering fishing charters in Crystal River, Homosassa, Homosassa Springs, Ozello, or Yankeetown. I invite you to come fish with me. Or, maybe you live nearby and just want to spend a relaxing day on the beautiful gulf waters.
I fish on Florida’s Nature Coast and I have fished these waters for over 40 years. My fishing charters depart primarily from Pete’s Pier Marina in Crystal River, on Florida’s west coast. I know these areas well and they have always produced fish for me. I generally fish for tarpon, redfish or sea trout depending on the season. We also catch a variety of other shallow water species such as sharks, cobia, bluefish, mackerel and sheepshead.
I really love the excitement of seeing my clients hooking up with a silver king - especially if it’s their first time tarpon fishing. So, if you’re up to the challenge, the crystal clear flats of Homosassa and Crystal River are world famous for tarpon fishing. Every year, anglers from around the world travel to Crystal River and Homosassa to battle some of the largest tarpon in the country. We fish for tarpon using fly tackle or spinning rods. Using such light tackle will mean you won’t win every battle,
but each hookup will be a great experience.
I also spend much of the month of June tarpon fishing in Southwest Florida near Sanibel Island, Captiva Island and Boca Grande. This area offers more diverse methods for tarpon fishing. Whether it be casting a fly or lure to fish in shallow clear water or casting to tarpon in the backcountry flats.
If tarpon is not your style of fishing, or if they are not in season, you may enjoy stalking redfish along the quite mangrove shorelines or battling drag screaming spanish mackerel in the open waters. Maybe casting jigs on the grass flats for sea trout. We'll plan your day to suit your fishing dreams. Whether you want to catch fish for the fun of hearing your drag scream then release them or fish for species that you can invite home for dinner, you will enjoy the day and find that I will work very hard to help you catch fish.
